“After Andy Warhol was shot he got out of the hospital and went back to his studio to find that one of his prints had also been pierced by a bullet. That would be the Warhol artwork I would most like to own. The bullet went first through his body and then through his art. It’s such a dramatic event in his life – real life brutally piercing art. I could hardly think of a more cataclysmic event and it had a huge impact on my art. This is where these works stemmed from. There’s also this idea of what happens to designer perfection after a violent event – it leaves marks.”
