Antti Viitala writes about his photographic series, Maasai Portraits:

“While on assignment shooting fashion editorials for Marie Claire magazine, I was informed that the driver of our crew was a member of the Maasai tribe and whose village was located near to where we were based. He agreed to take me and my assistant to his village if I brought 200 liters of fresh water with me.

The portraits were taken during a beautiful day spent with the inhabitants of the village near Arusha,Tanzania.

The photographs were shot on Ilford HP5 film with a Hasselblad 500 CM camera. A Lithium print on Oriental Seagull Paper was done by Mr. Mike Spry of Downtown Darkroom, London, U.K. Afterwards the lith prints were scanned and layered with old record covers found from a street market in Lisbon, Portugal using Photoshop.

The final image is a Giclee print on Hahnemuehle Photorag paper.”
