Vanishing Point is intended as an interdisciplinary exploration of our dying car culture. As a platform for modern fantasy, cars provide a hiding place and tend to generate their own reality – a place where anything can seem possible. The driver of a vehicle can seem immortal and on a journey to a place unimaginably far away. Yet they eventually find themselves back where they began, caught within an endless loop.

The two light boxes in the exhibition have been created by rapidly accelerating the wheels of a 1975 Dodge Coronet over an acrylic sheet. The boxes are lit from within by digital diode arrays that can be programmed to emit a wide range of shifting hues and patterns. Lighting design by Jukka Korpihete.
